A route from the Black Sea to the Pacific
The aquarium's main idea is simple and effective: you follow water across the world. The 1.2 km (0.75 mi) route moves through themes such as the Black Sea, Istanbul, Marmara, Aegean, Suez Canal, Red Sea, Atlantic, Panama, and Pacific. That structure gives the visit momentum, especially for children who like a clear next stop.
The main tank is the big reveal
The main tank holds more than 4,000 m³ (141,259 ft³) of water and gives you the classic aquarium payoff: sharks, rays, big viewing windows, and a lower-level route around the scene. Slow down here. It is the point where the Florya outing starts to feel bigger than a family mall stop.
The Amazon zone changes the mood
The 1,000 m² (10,764 sq ft) Amazon Rainforest zone shifts the visit from blue glass to warm mist, plants, piranhas, iguanas, yellow anaconda, and capybara. It is the useful surprise near the end of the route, especially if someone in your group thinks they are already done with fish.
Penguins add the conservation story
The gentoo penguins are more than a cute photo pause. Istanbul Aquarium became known for its penguin breeding work, including Turkey's first gentoo penguin chick in 2020, and the South Pole area gives that story a visible place in the visitor route.
Feeding times give the route a pulse
If you can catch a feeding, the route feels more alive. Nurse sharks and rays are usually fed in the Panama Canal area at 11 am except Monday, while sand tiger shark feeding is listed in the Western Atlantic area on Wednesday and Sunday at 2:30 pm. Check times before you enter, then pace your walk around the moment.
