Gorky Park (officially called Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure) was opened in 1928 as part of the government’s desire to build a socialist city of the future. It was remodeled in 2011, with the removal of fairground rides and the building of an ice rink, plus new areas for cafes and restaurants. You can rent a bike or a boat, relax on the grass, or explore the Muzeon, an open-air museum of sculpture featuring over 1000 pieces of art.
