Big Bus is an international expert on hop-on hop-off bus tours, with services in 22 cities around the world. Their maroon and gold buses offer two hop-on hop-off bus routes and a panoramic night route. The Classic ticket includes one day of access to the Day Tour plus a free walking tour. The Premium ticket includes one day of access to the Day Tour and walking tour, plus the Sausalito tour and an extra hour of bike rental. The Deluxe ticket includes two days of access to both hop-on hop-off lines, the walking tour, the free extra hour of bike rental, the night tour and a ticket to Madame Tussauds San Francisco. Combination packages including Alcatraz tickets and day trips to Muir Woods are also available.
Day Tour
The 17-stop Red Route takes you to all the major sights in San Francisco, from Chinatown past the Ferry Building, to Union Square and Haight Ashbury, around to Lombard Street, Pier 39, and the Golden Gate Park. Buses run every 15 to 20 minutes from 9 am to 5 pm and the full route takes about two hours and 20 minutes to complete. This route has an English-speaking guide or you can listen to pre-recorded commentary in 10 languages.
Sausalito Tour
The Green Route is included in Premium and Deluxe tickets and takes you over the Golden Gate Bridge to the artsy town of Sausalito. The tour has three stops, and departs every 15 to 30 minutes from 10.15 am to 4.30 pm. The full circuit takes an hour and a half to complete. You can join the tour from Stop 11 of the Day Tour/Red Route (North Vista Point/Golden Gate Bridge), and enjoy the commentary in English from a live guide.
Night Tour
This panoramic tour leaves from the Big Bus Tours Visitors' Center at 99 Jefferson Street daily at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm. It loops past Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Financial District before crossing the Bay Bridge to Yerba Buena Island and Treasure Island. The full tour takes an hour. Since seats on the tour are filled on a first-come-first-served basis, it’s recommended that you arrive 20 to 30 minutes early to ensure you get a spot.
Walking Tour
All Big Bus tickets include a complimentary walking tour of Chinatown, led by an expert guide. The tour leaves from Stop 6 (Hilton Hotel) every day at 1 pm, and additionally at 11 am from April to October. The tour takes about one hour and is available in English only.

Skyline Sightseeing and City Sightseeing are the same company, so whether the buses are decked out in red or orange, you’re guaranteed to have a good time. 1 Day tickets include the official City Tour route plus a one-hour walking tour. 1 Day Plus tickets also include the Sausalito Tour and an extra hour of bike rental, and 2 Day tickets include all bus routes including the Night Tour, plus a Madame Tussauds ticket. Packages including a cruise around the bay, tickets to Alcatraz, or a day trip to Muir Woods are also available.
City Tour
The red line of the City Tour covers San Francisco’s major sights in 16 stops, from Fisherman’s Wharf, through Little Italy and the Financial District, Union Square and the Painted Ladies, swinging through Golden Gate Park before returning to Pier 39 via Lombard Street. Buses run every 20 minutes from 9 am to 5 pm, and the full loop takes two hours and twenty minutes to complete.
Sausalito Tour
The Sausalito tour is included in the 1 Day Plus and 2 Day tickets and is a short route with three stops that hops over the Golden Gate Bridge to the community of Sausalito across the bay. Buses run every 30 minutes from 10.15 am to 4.30 pm and the full loop takes an hour and a half.
Night Tour
The Night Tour is available as part of the 2 Day ticket and starts every day at 6.30 pm or 7 pm. It departs from Fisherman’s Wharf and makes a loop through the city’s best-known neighborhoods, plus it swings over the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island for a photo stop. The full tour takes about an hour and a half.
Walking Tour
The 2 Day ticket includes a free walking tour of Chinatown. Visitors can join the tour at Union Square South at 10 am every day, or at 10 am or 1 pm from April until October. The tour takes about an hour, and visitors are reminded to wear comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
