Yellow Bus tours are run by Carristur, a Portuguese open-top bus operator which offers tours in seven cities across Portugal. They have two kinds of bus tickets. Porto Vintage is available for either one or two days and includes the Historical Porto tour and the Porto Castles tour, plus a wine tasting at either Espaço Porto Cruz or Poças Junior Port Wine Cellars, depending on your ticket. The Premium 3 in 1 ticket is valid for two days and includes the two bus tours plus the Porto Tram City tour and a ride on the Guindais Funicular. Tickets also include discounted entry to several of Porto’s top attractions.
Historical Porto
This 12-stop route focuses on the center of the city, beginning at the grand Avenida Dos Aliados, past the Carmo Church, over the river to City Hall and back again. This route operates every 30 minutes daily from 9 am and it takes about an hour and a half to complete a full loop.
Porto Castles
This 20-stop tour takes visitors all the way from the city center, past the Casa da Música to the Castelo do Queijo and the Forte de São João Baptista da Foz, before heading down the river road back to town. Tours leave every 30 minutes from 9.15 am and a full loop takes two hours to complete.
Porto Tram City Tour
The trams used in this tour are vintage electric trams that run throughout the city. A ticket to use the three different lines is included in the Premium 3 in 1 tour. Line 1 will take you from the historic center to Passeio Alegre garden on tracks that follow the banks of the River Douro. Line 18 starts at the Tram Museum and runs in a loop around the University of Porto. Finally, line 22 runs on a loop through the city center. There’s no commentary on-board the trams, so just sit back and enjoy the experience!
