Hellbrunn Palace (or Schloss Hellbrunn) is a pleasure palace built in the early 17th Century for the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. Designed to be used only during the daytime (the palace famously has no bedrooms), the building and its gardens are still amusing visitors today. Most importantly, the palace’s gardens are home to trick fountains which are both beautiful and surprising! Prepare yourself to get a little wet as you explore with an expert guide.

The Palace

Magnificent rooms such as the Bird Room, the Music Room or the Octagon offer impressive design. Also special is the artfully painted banquet hall. The architect of the complex was Santino Solari, Salzburg court architect. The construction of the magnificent complex was commissioned by Prince Archbishop Markus Sittikus of Hohenems.

The Garden

In addition to the palace itself, the highlight is the world's best-preserved late Renaissance waterworks with their fountains, sculptures and grottos. The fountains of Hellbrunn Palace can only be visited on guided tours, but the waiting time may be worth it.
