City Sightseeing

City Sightseeing’s bright red doubledecker buses stand out on the streets of Berlin! Choose between two hop-on hop-off routes, and consider combining your ticket with a boat tour or tickets for one of Berlin’s top attractions, from Madame Tussauds to the SEA LIFE Center. Tickets are valid for either 24 or 48 hours.

Traditional Tour

The 13-stop tour takes you to all the sights you might find on a postcard of Berlin. From Kurfürstendamm along the Tiergarten and into the center of the city, you’ll get the chance to hop off at Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, the Gendarmenmarkt, Alexanderplatz, the Museum Island, the Brandenburger Tor, and the Hauptbahnhof. Buses depart every 15 minutes from 9.15 am to 4 pm and the full loop takes about two hours.

Wall & Lifestyle Tour

This 11-stop tour will help you to explore former East Berlin and will teach you about the lives and lifestyles of those living in the DDR. Stops include the Rotes Rathaus, the Hauptbahnhof, the Berlin Wall Memorial, the Mauerpark, Alexanderplatz, the East Side Gallery, and the Ostbahnhof. Buses run every half an hour from 10 am to 4 pm and the full loop takes about two hours to complete.

Boat Tour

If you’ve chosen the 24 or 48-hour bus and boat combo ticket, then you’ll be able to enjoy an hour-long cruise along the Spree. Boats are operated by Reederei Riedel and depart every 30 minutes.

Berolina City Circle

Berolina offers visitors the chance to pick one of their two hop-on hop-off routes, the Best of Berlin Route or the Berlin Wall Route, or to combine the two by buying a ticket for the Berlin Big Tic Tour. The individual route tickets are available for one or two days, while the Big Tic option is available for either two or three days. Berolina’s yellow buses are equipped with audio commentary in 20 languages, plus children’s channels in English and German. Children under the age of seven can ride free of charge, so this is definitely a family-friendly option!

Best of Berlin Route

This 18-stop will take you to all of the city’s highlights, starting at Kurfürstendamm before heading to the Kulturforum, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin TV Tower, the Museumsinsel, the Brandenburg Gate, and Schloss Charlottenburg. Buses run every 10 minutes, but if you decide you want to stay on and do the full loop, then it will take you about two hours.

Berlin Wall Route

This 8-stop route takes you to explore former East Berlin and the districts most affected by the building of the Berlin Wall. Starting at Alexanderplatz, you’ll then head to Hackescher Markt, the Berlin Wall Memorial, the Mauerpark, the East Side Gallery, and the Jewish Museum. Buses run every 20 minutes, and the full loop takes one hour and 40 minutes to complete.

Boat tour

If you’d like to know what Berlin looks like from the River Spree, then you can choose a ticket with a boat tour! The river cruise is included in Best of Berlin + Boat or Big Tic Tour + Boat tickets. The tour takes about an hour and boats depart from Nikolaiviertel Berliner Dom, which can be reached from stop number 10 of the Best of Berlin Tour. Boats leave every 30 minutes from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm. The boat tour is only available from April to the end of October.

Big Bus

Big Bus is one of the largest hop-on hop-off providers worldwide and their two hop-on hop-off routes run like clockwork. Choose between the Classic ticket, which includes one day of access to both routes, the Premium ticket, which includes two days of hop-on hop-off access plus a walking tour, and the Deluxe ticket, which includes two days of hop-on hop-off access, the walking tour, and a river cruise. Big Bus also organizes a special night tour with live guides during the Berlin Light Festival, which runs annually in October.

Red Route

This 17-stop route takes you to all the most important sights in Berlin, from Potsdamer Platz to the Reichstag via Topography of Terror, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz, and the Museum Island. Sit back and enjoy the live English-language commentary or opt for audio commentary in eight languages. Buses depart every 20 minutes from 9.30 am to 5 pm, and it takes two hours to complete the full loop.

Blue Route

This short route might only be 4 stops long, but it will help you navigate former East Berlin with ease! Buses stop at Alexanderplatz, Karl-Marx-Allee, East Side Gallery, and the Ostbahnhof every 20 minutes and feature audio commentary in eight languages. Buses run from 9.40 am to 6 pm, and the full loop takes 40 minutes to complete.

River Cruise

A river cruise is included with every Deluxe ticket! Boats that let you see the sights on the River Spree depart every 30 minutes from 10 am to 6 pm and include free live commentary in German. You’ll also have the option to rent an audio guide in 10 other languages for an additional fee. Hop on at Reederei Ringel, 5 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which is a stop on the Red Route.

Walking Tour

A free walking tour is included with the Premium and Deluxe tickets. Tours in English depart at 11 am and 3 pm and a German tour departs at 1 pm from the Brandenburg Gate, and the 90-minute tour finishes at Checkpoint Charlie. Both the start and endpoint are stops on the Red Route, so once the tour is over you can hop back onto a bus and continue your sightseeing.

Stromma Hop-On Hop-Off Bus

Stromma’s buses run on two routes, one covering the center and west of the city while the second offers a shorter route around what was formerly East Berlin. You can change between the two routes at Alexanderplatz. Tickets are available for either 24 or 48 hours, and buses are equipped with audio commentary in up to 16 languages.

Line 1

This route covers the center and west of the city in 19 stops. Starting at Alexanderplatz (where you can change to Line 2), the bus drives on to stop at the Museum Island, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Schloss Bellvue, Kulturforum, Postdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Gendarmenmarkt before looping around to Alexanderplatz again. If you don’t want to hop off to visit any attractions then the full route takes just over two hours to complete.

Line 2

This route covers former East Berlin in six stops, starting at Alexanderplatz before stopping at Frankfurter Allee, the East Side Gallery, Ostbahnhof, and the Rotes Rathaus. The full loop takes 40 minutes to complete.

Tempelhofer

This local firm offers bus tours with live commentary in English and German! Their buses are comfortable, and doubledeckers have closed roofs in winter and open-tops in summer, so you won’t freeze or overheat! It has one route that covers all the most important attractions in Berlin.

Route

Tempelhofer’s route takes you to 22 stops around Berlin, from Kurfürstendamm to the Tiergarten, the Berlin Philharmonic, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz, and the Museum Island. Tours start daily at 9.30 am, though the final tour time varies according to the season. The full loop takes about two hours to complete.
