General information

opening hours

The State Russian Museum is generally open from 10 am until 6 pm, but closes at 8 pm on Mondays and at 9 pm on Thursdays. The museum is closed on Tuesdays. St. Michael’s Castle, the Marble Palace, the Stroganov Palace, and the Cabin of Peter the Great are only open until 6 pm on Mondays, despite the rest of the museum closing at 8 pm. The Summer Garden and the Mikhailovsky Garden are open from May 1 to September 30 between 10 am and 10 pm, and from October 1 to March 31 they are open from 10 am to 8 pm. The final entry to all areas of the museum is half an hour before closing time.

Tickets for the main buildings of the State Russian Museum cost RUB500 or RUB250 for students. Tickets for each of St. Michael’s Castle, the Marble Palace, and the Stroganov Palace cost RUB500 or RUB250 for students. Entry to the Cabin of Peter the Great costs RUB300 or RUB150 for students. Combined tickets for two different parts of the museum cost RUB750 or RUB350 for students. Tickets for the interactive exhibition in the Multimedia Center cost RUB500. Schoolchildren can enter the museums free of charge.

The State Russian Museum can be reached via public transport by taking the St. Petersburg metro to Gostiny Dvor or to Newski-Prospekt, both of which are served by lines 2 and 3.
