In 1987, the archive joined
Seville Cathedral and
Alcázar on
UNESCO's World Heritage list as one monumental ensemble at the heart of
Seville. The scale behind that status is easy to underestimate: the archive preserves more than 43,000 bundles, roughly 80 million pages, and thousands of maps and plans. Even if you only see a tiny fraction, the visit gains force once you realize the building is holding a continent-sized paper trail.
