The Borghese Gallery (Galleria Borghese) is a gallery in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana, built in the 1600s as a country villa for Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The art inside comes mostly from his collection and features masterpieces by Caravaggio, Bernini, and Peter Paul Rubens. Tickets are sold in 2-hour blocks, with only 360 tickets released in each block, so book early to avoid disappointment!

General information

Opening Hours:

The gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 7 pm, with the final entry at 5 pm. The gallery can only be visited for 2 hours at a time in intervals which begin at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm. The gallery is closed on December 25 and January 1.

Tickets:

Only 360 tickets are released for each 2 hour period, so it’s advised to book in advance. Tickets cost €13 for adults, €6.50 for EU citizens aged 18 to 25, plus a €2 booking fee. Entry is free (but the booking fee is still applied) for EU citizens aged under 18, students of architecture or literature, or school children and their teachers. It is sometimes possible to buy last-minute tickets half an hour after each 2-hour session begins.

How to get there:

The Galleria Borghese is easiest to reach by bus, you can take the 910 or 92 from Termini station, or buses 52, 53, 61, 63, 83, 89, 160, 490, and 495 from Fermata Flaminio or Fermata Barberini stations, both of which you can reach via Metro line A.
